She pushed the button and herd the door bell ring in the apartment. It was three in the morning, but she knew that he wouldn’t care. Hell he was probably still awake doing god knows what. He hated to sleep; he would stay up all night. He was usually out somewhere, at a party, club, or down at the pub. She had actually seen him at a rave once. “I just had to see what all the talk was about” she remembers him saying.
There was a rattle of the lock on the door and then it opened. Sure enough he was still fully dressed. Well he had on a pair of jeans, a wife beater, and his slippers or house shoes as he called them. “Hey” he said as he saw that it was her that summoned him. His look went from happiness to concern as he saw the tears and the run mascara. She had been crying all the way over, she’d walk the nine blacks from the club. He noticed that she was shivering and the clouds of breath coming from her mouth. “Come on in” he invited reaching out and taking her by the arm. They walked to the couch by the fireplace and sat down. He brought his hand up to her face and wiped away the black streaks ender her eyes. She brought her eyes up and looked into his. He smiled and said “I was just making some tea you want some?” she smiled back and shook her head yes. He smiled again and stood up, walked to the kitchen and started to make the tea. She had stopped crying and started to relax. It was worm in his apartment considering he didn’t have any heat, just the wood burning fireplace. She picked up the blanket that was lying on the back of the couch, and raped it around her. She was only warring her purple sheer blouse; she had left her cote at the club she was in such a hurry. “Green, black, or earl gray?” he asked from behind the counter. “Green” she called back. He got the tea down out of the cupboard and started to boil the water. After he had finished he walked over and pulled a chair over to were she was sitting on the couch. He knottiest the blanket that was raped around her “its like ten degrees out. Ware’s your coat?” He had this way of dancing around a subject to cheer you up before he asked you what was the matter. She looked at him and smiled “I left it at the club. I left in kind of a hurry.” She said. “I could tell” he replied. “so what’s with all the tears?” he asked in a slightly more somber tone. “I saw him” she said with a rather distant look in here eyes. “It was bound to happen. I mean you both hang out in the same scene” he said to her. “I know” she said “but he was with her” she felt a tear slide down her cheek. “I’m sorry” he said. “How could he do that? He brought that bitch that he was having an affair with to our special place” another tear fallowed “I just couldn’t take it.” “Its all right I’m glad you came here instead of running all the way back home. Besides now I have someone to have tea with” he smiled at her. “Thanks” she said as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. She looked at him. He had the most beautiful eyes, not the color exactly but the way he looked at her. He had this concerned look that he gave her. She was always coming to him with a problem, and he always gave her that look. She often wondered why he didn’t have a girlfriend. He was popular with the ladies and he was relatively good looking and fit. For all he had he was a happy, fun guy but he had this sad loneliness feeling to him. As she was thinking this she realized she was attracted to him. She felt the look on her face change and prayed that he didn’t notis. At that moment the tea pot began to whistle and he turned his head to the kitchen. She breathed a sigh of relief inside. After all that had happened she didn’t need to stack falling for one of her friends on the list. He liked back at her “teas done”. He stood up and walked into the kitchen and got two cups out of the cupboard and filled them with tea. Wile he was doing this she leaned back against the back of the couch and took a deep breath to compose herself. “you shouldn’t let it bother you” he said as he picked up the tea and walked over to the couch and sat beside her “he treated you like shit wile you guys were together. You should be glad that he’s out of your hair.” He handed her a cup of tea. The tea was in his Chinese cups that her friend had given him for Christmas. They were like coffee mugs without the handle; they were white with black Chinese symbols on them. She took a sip “I know but I really thought that he loved me” she took another sip of tea. “Love is a tricky thing” he said “I mean how do we ever know what love is.” He took a sip of tea “it happens two ways usually. It’s either love disguised as sex or sex disguised as love”. “Well I think this was sex disguised as love” she said drawing her legs up on to the couch. She looked down into her tea “I just wish I could find a good guy. One who won’t leave me standing out in the cold.” He slid closer to her “I let you in didn’t I?” he said. “Yes you did” she looked up into his eyes “you’re a real stand up guy”. He looked down at her cup “you know what that means?” he asked her. She shook her head no. “it says hope” he put his hand on hers “ in many philosophies they put a lot of emphasis on hope” she looked in to his eyes, they had a look that she had never seen before. He seemed to look into her sole and it caused her to melt. “They do?” she asked. The melting had turned in to a burning, a burning for him. “Yes they do. Some say that one should be ready to take opportunity when ever it comes to you”. She could feel the heat coming from him. She knew he wanted her and the thing that fueled her is she wanted him just as much. “Are you ready?” he asked her in a soft tone. “O god yes” she whispered back. She closed her eyes and kissed him.
