As a biofemale, who is in love and dating a trans woman, I want to shout from the rooftops: "BEING TRANS IS AMAZING!!!!" because I love my girlfriend.... but after living with her for a while and seeing her struggles, I can't honestly say that I believe that if you are trans in American culture, that it is amazing. Can you imagine going for a job interview looking extremely male with your broad shoulders, height, deep voice and prominent adams' apple, but presenting as female? You'd almost never get a job. Or walking down the street in a dress, heels and exquisite makeup, only to be identified as a man in dress by assholes, who heckle you and call you a fag? As long as most trans people are discriminated against, their harassment and abuse must be shown to the public. Because when that happens, more people will see and understand how gender identity discrimination hurts real, true people. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that being trans is an amazing human state, but in our culture, it is fucking abused much more.
