breifly, because i am dawg tired: this past week had its good ups and its not so good downs, as all of my trips home [recently, esp.] have been. the first few days spent doing not much of anything, and then all of the fun and friends packed into the last few days. they were great, too. wednesday laurin and i went to the giants game. we planned on taking the ferry (such a beautiful day!!) but alas, we got there too late to park and catch it. giants lost, but we still had a good time, eating quite a bit of junkfood, which cost about a trillion dollars :) cj and his dad were there too, so we met up after the game and chatted for a bit. i bought a "gigantes de san francisco" shirt, which i've wanted for a long time. then laurin and i wandered around the embarcadero waiting for traffic to ease. we walked to the ferry building, which is so cute- i hadn't been since they re-did it. it reminds me a lot of faneuil hall in boston. then we proceeded to the top of the hyatt, to the equinoxx [revolving] restaurant for a killer view. thursday was friend day! or, day one in the "friends event" a la facebook. it was sooooooo so so nice to see my girls! i miss everyone already. i don't think i laughed that much in such a short period in...too long. love it. friday, i dragged spike and dad into the city a bit earlier [hello, fog] so that we could go to the deYoung. that was a good choice, it is sooo cool. it's hard to believe that the space it occupies used to be two museums (it, and the asian art museum, which is now in the old main library building). the view from the tower is also very impressive. we didn't spend nearly enough time there, but i wanted to see all of the galleries before we had to leave, so i booked it. after the museum, we drove down to sunnyvale to see my grandparents. grandpa was having a few "good days" in a row, which is great, but by "good day" i mean he wasn't asleep for all of it. he's confined to the wheelchair, and they had a hospital bed moved into the living room for him because he can't function... at all, really. it was so sad. he barely says much, he just can't get the words out. it was nice to be there, though. the real fun of this past week didn't happen till late last night. after i got into portland (45 minutes late, i might add), i took the train to our house and put my stuff down, then went to fred myer to get some batteries for my camera, and then picked up some dinner. i went back to the apartment, took picture of it for my mom to put on craigslist, and ate. then i packed up all of my stuff in my car, went to turn it on aaaannnnd nothing. it wouldn't start. so i paced back and forth at the top of the driveway, talking to my dad, when i see that my car looks a bit off kilter. sure enough, i had a flat tire! the front driver's side. splendid, two flats in one month after never having any real car issues before. aaaahhhh. so i called aaa, and they took for ev er getting to the house, and the driver tried to compete with me for bad day. he fixed the tire, but didn't have a clue as to what was wrong with my car. but he did notice that my oil was dripping. bonus! so, long story short, i borrowed a sleeping bag from the neighbor and spent the night in the apartment, which under different circumstances would've been great fun. and then lucky for me, elaine was bringing a car down anyway, so she picked me up butt early this morning to drive back to eugene. it is rrreeeaaalllly hot here, still. we went swimming today which is always nice, but even that didn't cool me off too much. i am super tired, but can't sleep until my sheets come out of the dryer. that about does it for this update, and i think i'll go read myself to sleep now. have to get up early for work tomorrow! hope everyone else's summer is off to a good start :)
