Wanted to note several things from the past week:
Last weekend was busy, but nice--Friday night in Minneapolis for dinner with Brothers (need to be doing that more often now that there's more of them up there), Saturday in La Crosse for DnD with Dennis and Doreen and in Minneapolis again on Sunday for lunch with Jeff and Rochelle for Andrea's birthday--makes up for being cooped up at home sick the previous two weekends. Liv got sick of all the carseat/highchair time, but did very well under the circumstances.
Finally got to see the $40 a Day episode in Milwaukee last night--I've been obessed about seeing this ever since I missed it a year or so ago. Rachel hit a number of places I would've sent her--Mader's, Usingers, the Safe House--and Sprecher's got a shoutout, so I'm happy.
Talked to my good friend Jen this week for the first time in about two years. The reasons for the call weren't good, her mom died just before new years, but it was a nice conversation and it's nice that Jen and I can just start conversing again like there wasn't a two year gap. Jen's one of the people in my life with whom I'm probably the most comfortable, so I really appreciate getting the chance to talk to her.
Andrea, Liv and I went to a 2 1/2 hour long info session on Wednesday night for the Rochester Arts and Sciences Academy (www.rochesteracademy.com). It's a new private school that's starting up this year--basically a couple Mayo docs looked around at the local schools and decided that none of them had the academic program that they wanted for their kids, so they hired a firm that starts up independent schools and fronted the seed money to get it going. Evidently, a lot of people agree with them because Wednesday was their first info session and it was packed. Andrea and I really really like the academic vision that these people have laid out, but the tuition would not be cheap and we're a little leery that it's a start-up. Of course, Olivia is several years away from this, but we're considering registering her anyways so that we could get involved with the parent committees as the school starts up, and we'd have a couple of years to see whether their program works out or not.
Reminders to all my geeky friends: new Battlestar Galactica on Sunday, new Heroes on Monday night (with Chris Eccleston guest starring!!).
