Well, the house is starting to look like a third person might be living here shortly. The nursery is mostly together, and could in fact house a baby at this time. We've got a few finishing touches and a little bit of organizing to do and the custom-made glider/ottoman set arrives on Tuesday. I'll try to post pics sometime later this week, after the glider comes in.
The bassinet is set up in our room, but I found an extra length of metal while putting it together that I can find no mention of in the instructions, so I imagine that I'll be giving the good people at Evenflow a call sometime this week to find out where it's supposed to go.
The crib tent that we got is going back to the store. It sounded like a good idea--a mesh tent that sits over the crib and prevents the cat from getting into it--and, in fact, it's a perfectly servicable piece of equipment, but you call only use it with the crib mattress at it's lowest setting and if you don't use the sliding crib side rail, neither of which makes sense with a newborn. So it's going back. Andrea's mom will be disappointed; she specifically gave us money for that item and seems to think that the cat will be a danger to the baby.
Went to church this morning. We haven't gone much this summer, mostly on account of the UUA church only having 9:30 am services on Sundays during the summer and it being hard to get the preganant woman up and out the door that early on a weekend. But his weekend was the water communion ceremony, where the members of the congregation bring vials of water that they collected during their summer travels and pour them into the font at the front of the church, so we made an effort to get there, especially since we'd specifically collected some water from Harrington Beach last month when we were out in Wisconsin just for this purpose. Found out that our friend Gwen is a member today--she was there with her mother for the water communion too.
Looking forward to this week. Need to pack up bags for Andrea and I for our stay at the hospital and straight up some, but I think that we're mostly ready for the baby and I'm starting to feel like I can relax a little and work on some of the stuff that I've been neglecting lately.
