My mother-in-law is a romance writer. Recently, she entered a competition on Amazon.com and out of 10,000 entries, she placed in the top 500! Only 18 romance short stories made the cut. What's really great is that she'd forgotten about the competition and was only reminded when another writer congratulated her for her ranking XD
