I've read some of the manga and I've seen the anime.
I still don't get it.
Maybe it's because I'm Amercian?
or maybe I'm not a big enough yaoi fangirl :/
Speaking of other anime fails:
Glass Fleet has to be the the gayest ejaculation of confusion wtf-ery I've ever seen in anime. I spent several minutes afterwards trying to determine if it was somehow secretly brilliant or just utterly contrived.
I decided it was contrived.
They were brave for introducing some elements but the rest of it was just confusing and stupid! Seriously, these people did not react to the vacuum of space and slaves and stream drove their starships?! wah?
Lucky Star might be good as a casual watch with friends but I was never a fan of Azumanga Daioh or Seinfeld. This seems like the bastard child of the two. While there were tee-hee moments, most of the time I just wanted them to MOVE ON!
Anime I have enjoyed:
We just finished Hell Girl, and though it might not be an anime I'd typically pick off the shelf, I was impressed by the underlying story in this series. While I found I didn't typically feel strongly about the people's situations in the episodic stories, I really became interested in the background characters. The series ended a bit too abruptly, but it wasn't unsatisfying. The animation quality was good and some of the visuals were truly beautiful. If you can rent or Netflix this series, give it a shot.
