We took the bus from Alice to Ayers Rock Resort (Yulara) - lots more red rocks and small bushes and trees, though this time they were a lot closer. Still an absolutely massive space - my mind was somewhat blown by the scale!
We stopped off a for a camel ride - they're surprisingly bumpy - you bounce all over the place, but it's great fun :)
Then we headed to Kata Tjuta (translates to Many Heads or something similar), which is a bunch of big rocks - they're big and kinda cool, but in the end just a bunch of rocks. Then headed to Uluru (Ayers Rock) for sunset. Another big rock - it's cool, and really big, but I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
I continued munching my way through the Australian wildlife with a kangaroo wrap for lunch - kangaroo is really delicious - kinda like beef, but nicer I reckon. Crocodile is like pork, but fishier. Emu I've only tried smoked, it was like veal but gamier I think, but it's hard to tell when it's smoked. Camel I've only had minced - like strong tasting beef, but drier - less fat. Nom nom nom!
In the evening we had a barbecue near the base of Uluru, then they turned the lights out, and we were so far from any light sources it was pitch black and the stars were amazing! We could see the milky way really clearly, I've never seen anything like it! Our guide pointed out the Magellanic clouds and the southern cross, and a bunch more stars I've forgotten already. It was awesome!
