We flew into Alice Springs from Adelaide, and the flight was awesome! I had a window seat, and spent almost all of the two hours staring downwards at the amazing terrain (I was briefly distracted by a delicious cake and a nice cup of tea - nom nom nom!). There is just this huge expanse of red sand, with a few bushes and trees dotted around, and every now and then a bunch of mountains. And it is really really massive, with just the occasional road crossing it, very few signs of people living there.
Did a bit of shopping in Alice, then repaired Iain's suitcase with plenty of gaffer tape - gaffer tape is really good stuff - I'm impressed. I think my bicycle repair kit (which currently consists of a solitary mole wrench) might be improved with a small roll of gaffer tape :)
It was 39 degrees, so toasty warm - we cooled off in the swimming pool! Then headed out for dinner - an Australian Game Medley which was super! It had smoked emu, delicious kangaroo, barramundi (which just tasted like a white fish really), and camel pie! Nom nom nom!
