Corn-swamped

^Don’t ask, it’s just a thing. A stupid thing or it wouldn’t amuse me so much.

Okay, with my youngest nephew’s 1st birthday last weekend I’m done with family events that I know for certain I have to be involved in. Thank the Lord. So far this summer I’ve: been too sick to go to a funeral (my uncle’s mother), gone to a family reunion (not mine technically, but they’ve taken me in like a stray), been to Luling for the Watermelon Thump (sadly lacking in Ferris wheel, good on tilt-a-hurl), gone to a wedding and the annual 4th of July fish fry. Then the first b-day party where there were only five under 13 and of the rest of the friends/relatives maybe three of us in our twenties and everyone else 30 and up. All of these events while either Mom or I watched at least one of the nephews nearly every day since May. I am not complaining, I love the kids, but it does take up quite a bit of energy chasing them around. (Like today for instance when we watched the wee one and tomorrow when the big one stays over.)

Job hunting is bleh, but a family friend may have a line on a job for me. I’m also planning to start volunteering somewhere soon so I’ll be glad to have time to catch a breather between events. Plus it will get me out of the house and I might have a better chance of hearing about a job. Writing is kinda odd at the moment. I seem to get lots of ideas on beginnings, but nearly no endings. Plus I keep finding bits I’d started before (Dresden Files? Voyager? Several odds and ends) and a few small mostly completed pieces I didn’t really remember writing (PotC and Smallville specifically). I would be doing better with typing things up if S hadn’t gotten me addicted to Hyperbole and a Half (I make lots of the faces shown there).

Oh and because I have a lot of little updatey bits I’m going to break up my posting over a few days so I don’t kill your flist and make it hard for you to skip over me to get to the stuff you actually want to read. You’re welcome.

writing, 2010, tl;dr probably, family, holidays
