despite the overwhelming heat and the large numbers of people featuring very unfortunate nudity, the pride parade - and accompanying festival atmosphere, which spreads far beyong the gayborhood and into much of downtown toronto - remains one of my favorite events and days of the year. all other things aside, it's the one day out of 365 where you see an endless sea of people holding hands and smiling, completely unafraid of everyone around them. kinda serves as recognition of just how detached and reserved we all are in public on every other day.
