the reviews of
v for vendetta are looking to be solidly in the camp of 'great action, muddy message'. this isn't too far from the book - the character of v seems to valorize terrorism and anarchy, a revolutionary without any post-revolution political plan. it's a bit naive at best, irresponsible at worst. the anti-fascist, anti-oppressive politics that motivate v in the book are pretty clear, but it's easily one of
alan moore's weakest stories. it's a pretty standard riff on 1984 - but it looks like it'll be hella pretty.
