Hey everyone,
Well, last night was the pinnacle of my local music career so far; it was our show with our local heroes Primal Scream Therapy to whom which we are fans of, the amazing Diary Of..., and good friends Modus Operenda. I arrived at the Flatline Records studio at about 2:00 and John, Matt, Evan, and I went to the mall and got a few things for John's girlfriend for Christmas. Matt also bought a Public Enemy wristband that he believes gave him good luck for the show. We went to Tower Records and John bought a few used CD's, Evan bought Meshuggah's "I" EP, and I bought Megadeth's "The System Has Failed" for $4.99. We then went back to the studio and hung out for a bit and ran through our new song, "In The Presence Of My Enemies" a bit because I was a little sketchy about it. Our merchandise girl/driver Addison, who is also our biggest fuckin' fan in the world, came over and we loaded our stuff into the trunk and we went to Starbucks for a little while so some people could get a drink. We then went to Bronco Billy's to pick up my little brother Phil for the show and then we headed over to Unity. We unloaded all our stuff and met with the Modus Operenda guys. Their new bass player, Chris Urban, is pretty tight; nice guy. For those who don't know, Matt and I used to be in Modus Operenda back in the day but that's history now. So, time came and literally, I plugged in my stuff and as soon as I turned around, everyone was packed in Unity. It was nuts; there was so many people! So, we busted into our first song "Pretenders" which is our openening song; the people loved it. We then played the first To The Death song ever written, "My Hated Fear" and we kicked some ass with that song. We then played a song everyone seems to love, "Universal Clone". After "Universal Clone", we gave our hype-ups to Modus Operenda, Diary Of..., and then Primal Scream Therapy. We then busted into my favorite song "Time Will Tell" and then finished with our newest song, "In The Presence Of My Enemies" in which we had the hugest pit of the night. All the other bands had a bunch of pits but we had to have like 18-20 people in our pit. It was fuckin' nuts! When I was packing up, I felt someone smack me in the back and I turned around saying, "Who the fuck was that?!" and it was Diary Of guitarist and good friend Ian Patience and he congratulated me about the show. I was pissed because someone hit me but when I found out it was him, I was cool! Modus Operenda came on and played their songs, "Kill The Tune", "Three Sheets To The Wind", "Deep Six" and their two newest songs "Murder" and "Beneath The Floor Boards". Their new songs are sick and their new bass player Chris Urban is pretty cool. Diary Of came on and played most of their songs off "The Sleepless Dreamer" EP which I picked up and if you haven't picked it up yet, go do it; it's awesome. Then, the almight Primal Scream Therapy came on and busted into "Repeat The Cycle", "The Perfect Flaw", "Casualty", "School Bus Is A Death Trap", "A Suffocating Hatred" and then covered Pantera's "Sand Blasted Skin". Like they said, they kinda raped it but it was still cool to play a Pantera song in light of what happened. Also, if you haven't picked up "The Perfect Flaw" EP, you're fucking stupid; go do it! After that, we took everything back to the studio and went home.
I want to thank everyone who came out to the show: my girlfriend Desiree (Happy 1 Year!), her younger brother Dean, my best buddy Talia Thanks, you know what for), Addison, the amazing Claire, my brother Phil, Paul Faria for kicking some ass, Robby for kicking ass as well, the kids from Rocker's Club, Erin R., Brittany T., Fat Matt, DZ and his girlfriend Lizzette, Bianca (Thanks for keeping cool!), Matt's parents for letting us jam in their garage, and to everyone I forgot, I'm so sorry... Tell me and I'll add you! Thanks for making my night special!
