[ooc: I apologize for the tag and run. But I should be able to carry on the rp throughout the day tomorrow. AND REALLY I SHOULD SLEEP BEFORE I RP AND LEARN TO REPLY PROPERLY.]

Cortège Catastrophe gave her gum one last pop before disposing of it in its original wrapper and tossing it in the nearby trash bin. Stylishly dressed in her pink and black Portrait-collar ponté-knit jacket and pencil skirt, she sat calmly in a vacant room at Heighworth. Her long manicured pink nails drummed on the top of a jet black notebook, one she would use for keeping notes, two pencils wedged elegantly in an 'x' to hold her hair in a bun.

Cortège had left Jeff an email regarding her visit and the length of time it would take. Surely he had time to spare, especially for something so important. But then again, he could not show up--that'd give her plenty to think about.

Jeff really didn't have time to do this sort of interrogation crap, but it was needed to be done yet Jeff would have rather just sat in the library and continue his studying and get good grades. His recent email was about his ex-girlfriend's death and directions to meet a required interrogation from some wanna-be detective. He hoped she wouldn't waste his time and walked into the room.

"...What do you want?" He asked with hesitation and avoided eye-contact.

When Jeff entered, and with such a warm greeting, Cortège all most felt the need to ask him where that "dorky, friendly" side of him went. Then again, that'd be gone given the situation. Cortège stood and did a little bow.

"Please to finally make your acquaintence, Sir Doberman. You know me over the email I sent you, so introductions are not needed." She waved a hand to the chair adjacent of her before sitting back down. "As to what I want?" she smirked. "What any hard working, good detective wants: answers. You might have access to some." Cortège laughed. "But please, don't read into that as me saying you are the killer. We don't want to jump to conclusions. Wouldn't be... professional."

His body tensed up slightly as he walked over to the chair, eyeing the other in a snobbish manner and then his eyes widen at her comment and he shifted in the chair uncomfortably.

"But I didn't do anything!" He snapped nervously.

Cortège rested her chin on her hand, watching him with scanning eyes. Jeff was displaying a good amount of possible answers. Tense body, uncomfortable shifting, defensive reaction--all top signs of lying. Yet, using a contraction was also a sign of truth. Though she still refused to jump to conclusions. "I didn't say you did anything," she insisted, "there is no spotlight on you, Sir Doberman, no two way mirror, no stale environment, and I certainly am not gnawing on a cigarette and throwing a confession statement in your face."

To make Jeff more comfortable, Cortège removed a canister from the small purse she brought, pouring two cups of tea in daisy cups. "First off, I want to know what your relationship was with Miss Hart. I was informed you were her ex, and naturally, you must know a few deep dark secrets." To assure him the tea was not spiked with truth serum or whatever the imagination could sum up, she gave her drink a long swallow. "So do tell me, please, your experience with Miss Hart and what you saw her as. Not her parents ( ... )

He was silent for a few moments and looked at everything but her, ignoring the tea that she had made for him.

"She was an idiot, okay? That's all there is to it!" He snapped bitterly but he wiped his hand under his glasses.

Cortège smirked. "Speaking so ill of the dead," she replied quietly. Another sip of tea, and she continued, "You're being very defensive, Sir Doberman, and what for? If you've got nothing to hide, you should be fine." Yet Cortège could all chalk it up to just handling Deborah's death his own way; nice, juicy and bitter.

Nonetheless, she continued to push. If Jeff chose to walk out or stay, it didn't matter; he'd give answers no matter what he did. "Also, there's something fishy in what you said. If a person gets killed, they're certainly not first and foremost called an 'idiot,' unless they had been doing or saying something that would have you give me this response ( ... )

"Look!" He started, rubbing his eyes with his hands and looked at the other with an annoyed but a sad expression. "...whatever, she is dead, so what?"

Cortège continued to smile. "I'm very well aware that she's dead, and it's tragic that we had to meet under such circumstances..." Not really, though, but you had to play ball with them. "... But adding onto your observation, your ex-girlfriend was also supposedly murdered. And that isn't exactly something we can merely brush off, you know?"

Cortège leaned forward a little, push his tea just an inch or two closer. "You're avoiding the subject, you're shooting down my questions, among other things." Her head titled and one eye narrowed, but that grin did not fade. "You know, these are good signs of someone lying. I'm not here to break you, or demand horrendous things of you; I'm here to clear up the murder of the woman you once loved, the woman I'm sure you still cared for even after the break-up."

She rested her hands in her lap with the notebook. "The best thing you can do right now is to answer my questions, Sir Doberman," Cortège said softly, but there was no such tone in her eyes.

Would she give him a damn break? Whatever, he placed his hands in his pockets and body was tense, glaring at the other as though she was just an utter bitch but his tone was soft. "she's dead, nothing you can do about it."

"There is," Cortège countered. "The more you hesitate to answer, the more guilty you're going to look." She tapped her fingernails on the table. "I don't see the harm in telling me what you know if you're innocent, Sir Doberman."

She then idily took a drink of her tea and sat it down. "Of course, it could be you're feeling guilty," Cortège said.

Shrugging, she continued, "I mean, you did break up with her and date her friend. Ruined love life, ruined friendship--could just ruin your entire life. Especially from a girl whose been through oh so much and relied on heavy support to keep her away from that icky temptation."

Cortège flatened her hand on the table. "I can see this is a hard time for you, be it for one reason or another, but I must assure you, I will not be the only one to come. There will be others, and they will pry and pry, until eventually you may break down. So you can make this easy and just tell me what I need to know ( ... )
