A historic event
It happened! It really actually happened! The Bradley affect didn't matter, Barack Obama is now the first african american to be elected to the highest position of authority in the US. I can't tell you how happy this makes me, and Hentai was practically bouncing last night. I almost didn't get to vote becuase the DMV didn't move my polling place to the correct address, but I was fortunatly able to get to the polling place I was formally registered at. (I wonder if I can sue the DMV for impeding my voter rights, they've done it to both Hentai and me now). But we both voted Obama and we are so glad with the outcome. Think about it, a black man, someone who little more than a century ago would have been enslaved here has been elected president. This is history, right here right now. America, you have surprised and impressed me. I didn't think we could get past our bigotry, racism, fear and hate. I have renewed hope in this country and its people. This is only increased by what I hear about the Bush transition team's efforts to make Barack's entry into the White House smooth as possible. Hentai and I fear Barack is doomed to assasination because so much hate and fear do still exist. But we both hope that Barack will have a successful and long term in office and brin about the changes this country really needs.
