Mate of Song Is a Far More Compelling Story Than I Remembered!

This entry is backdated by a touch more than an hour!

Not counting myself, I have only ever told the complete story of Mate of Song to two people: Amy, on the Mountain, almost ten years ago, and my friend Terry, today. I spent twelve hours on a video call with her today, and for the last four hours or so I told her the story of my beloved mauve-haired Bard of Tervail. I actually told her an even fuller version of the story than I told Amy, because the story wasn't fully developed yet at that time.

I forget sometimes what a strong story it is. What a compelling story it is. The memory of it does not do justice to the actual life of it, and I remembered that today by reliving the story through the telling of it. Irrespective of my writing skills and thus the style of its presentation, the plot and characters and worldbuilding are unbelievably strong!, and are beautifully interconnected to compose a compelling, flowing tale. It's amazing to think that I began Mate of Song without already knowing this structure, as in a vision or as a consequence of other Curious Tale story flows, but instead had to construct a fair amount of it over a long period of time and with much very difficult labor.

What a beautiful story! Beautiful, quiet, sad, happy, and lush. If Silence Terlais is the mouthpiece for the pinnacle of human potential and power, Afiach Bard is the mouthpiece for the pinnacle of the beauty of the World of Relance. And to bring those two characters together, if only briefly...what a wonderful sight.

And this is all just one Interlude to After The Hero...

It impressed the fuck out of Terry, and hooked her pretty well, and I can't remember the last time I've felt this happy. To have my work be appreciated...I dunno. If you're not a creator, you wouldn't understand. I wouldn't spoil a story of mine by a live oration of it for just anyone. Even "just" an Interlude. Terry is a very dear friend (platonically, for those of you who like to infer on such questions). Amy was a partner, so that makes sense. Terry isn't (and never was), but what she is is unbelievably resonant with me in certain ways which allowed for this story to be shared in such a satisfying manner.

Today, I was seen. And today, the World of Relance truly lived.
