Half Birthday Rabite

Jan 27, 2022 22:06

As of today I can never again say that I haven't eaten rabbit! I saw rabbits from Spain in the freezer case at WinCo this week, and with my half birthday coming up I figured to treat myself.

Well, today is said half birthday, so I roasted the rabbit, made a thick, rich gravy to go with it, and cooked up some rice!

It's...okay. I was kinda hoping to be wowed, but it ended up not being my jam. Rabbit is a sweeter meat, and I did enjoy that. I also enjoyed that, with its sweetness together with its gamey aftertaste, it stood apart from yer bog standard chicken. It wasn't dry like the Internet warned me on; I did a good job cooking it. I would definitely eat it again...but I don't think I would buy it again. At least not to cook myself; at a restaurant I would certainly consider it. It's not really worth the work to me, not worth the expense (even at WinCo it was $8 a pound), it's very bony (all that floof that rabbits wear is a lie!!), and the overall flavor profile isn't my favorite.

But anyhow, it was a nice little adventure, and a nice treat for my half birthday. I told my sister about it and she agreed that rabbit was not to her taste but that she eats them out of spite sometimes because she detests rabbits, tee hee.

No Wordle today because I learned the hard way yesterday that Wordle doesn't have a global rollover from one word to the next, but rather updates by time zone. So I got today's word by mistake. Too bad, too, because it's a word that I like and have guessed before. But for the spoiler, it wasn't out of the question (though still very unlikely) that I could have gotten my first-ever Wordle-in-One!

The Sun was really shining today, after that Super Duper Inversion Layer, but it was still very cold. That's what my mind always goes to when I picture winter: sunny and cold. I actually enjoyed it, despite being a cloud loyalist. It was very energizing, and the light absolutely poured into my apartment.

I was hoping to make a big push on my creative writing today, but the way the day worked out I was running late all day, and the day turned out to be surprisingly busy because some things slowed me down (like the two hours I spent cooking rabbit, heh).

But I have three uninterrupted days ahead of me! I'm very optimistic that something big is about to happen in Josh Creative World.
