Sew behind

My emotions are a jumble. Though I am excited about Halloween, I'm feeling unprepared for this year. The husband and I normally go ALL out with elaborate costumes and sets and each year we have seemed to put more of ourselves into it. We have done such a good job that over time we have earned a small but growing fan base that drive into the neighborhood just to see what we have created and to take pictures with us. And though we have put allot of work into this years costumes- I feel underwhelmed so far with the outcome. Since when did I stop enjoying the build and start worrying what a bunch of strangers will think of a costume? We have worked long and hard to create my working faux leather wings that, when activated, reach several feet over my five foot frame and expand to 10 feet in width and yet all I can think is its not as creative as past years ideas. I have yet to decide what to wear along with my wings but I know I do not want to be called a "Vampire" as my goal is to create a winged demon. The difficult part is trying to create something I do not have a picture to work off of and knowing that I only have 2 weeks left.

The Steam Punk Gunslinger costume I am creating for someone else is coming along nicely and with it my creativity has been flowing with ease... so why don't I have that with my own costume? Its killing me. I come home every night and tinker on one of the 3 costumes I am building and find I avoid my own the most. I wish I had creative friends in the area that would come and help ME for a change.

On the lighter side of things.... We seem to keep getting the same telemarketers lately. I try not to be TOO mean as I realize they have a job to do. Unlike the husband, I do not pick it up and immediately hang up on them as they are speaking but I also don't want to be on the phone forever with them as they give their long spill on the " Clean energy program". This program is for much older homes that need the duel pane windows, energy efficient appliances as well as a new coat of paint to make the area look newer. Our home is not that many years old so normally I will let the "seller" get as far as to why they are calling and because I have heard what they are offering a zillion times before- all I have to tell them is "Our home does not meet your requirements, its a new home and has all the things you are offering" - most the time they thank me and hang up... except for last night's caller. She just would NOT give up.
"Oh so you already have the windows, how about an energy efficient-"
"AC? Yes we have one"
"Well how old is your roof"
"Its Spanish tile and less than 5 years. Look... I told you that we do not need anything you have to offer."
"How about a new coat of the specialized paint we have for your home... you will never have to paint your house again. It is made of-"
"My dad is a house painter"
" Well I doubt he has the specialized paint we have as you have to be licensed to apply it"
"look... I am trying to save you time. I am going to continue telling you no, wouldn't you rather call someone you have a slight chance at selling something to?"
"I can put you down for someone to come show you the paints we have and they can share with you the benefits of the specialized paint. I can have them there as early as tomorrow and I don't think you can give me a reason as to why you don't need your house painted because everyone needs their house painted...so let me tell you more about our paints-"
"Wait... did I mention that my entire house is made up of duel pane windows and solar panels?"
She finally ran quiet for a moment .."oh... well... you enjoy those windows now" she finally stated.
"wait... aren't you going to try to sell me some type of window cleaner that I wont have to wipe again for life?" More silence and then she FINALLY hung up. Sheesh...
