I love that my husband finds us a full run of a TV show and nightly we sit down for dinner and "FT" (family time.. we even force the cat to sit in the same room as us.) our most current has been "3rd Rock From the Sun."
I really liked that show when it first came out but I just didnt have the time to sit down and dedicate my time to the TV when it arrived in 1996. I dont know what I was doing that was so important but I can assume it was something involving bands, gigs and drinking.
What a perfect cast was selected. Just when you think you know who your favorite it -you change your mind. Even the 'guest' pop ins were fantastic. The entire time we were watching I was thinking how inventive the writers were, why they could go on forever as there is so many things that would be first times or misunderstood.
but when the ball dropped on this show- it dropped long and far. In a semi way I think it Tommy's exit was where the show lost me. Usually I am sad when a show ends but this one flipped so fast it pissed me off. It was almost as if between seasons they changed the script masters.. either that or the writer suddenly didnt care any more. Even though Dick was still self centered and revolving around Mary- the cuteness of it for SEVERAL seasons was ripped away. And they turned Tommy into this know it all pompus jerk who picked on every one. Yes the last season was complete crap and I prefered the alternate ending more then the one they aired. I was so annoyed at the way they wrapped this up that I couldnt let it go and had to gripe for a good 30 minutes. I wish I knew if they changed writers or something.
so... next on the menu will be a few actual movies and then all 11 seasons of Fraizer.

D: for as good as 3rd rock was... where'd all the actors and actress go? Its as if French Steward just poofed off into thin air!
