Season finales. Reality show finales to be exact. For me they just mean that one of my siblings will be taking up more TV time than usual. Whether it's The Apprentice, Survivor: Manhattan (will they ever run out of spots to host the show) or American Idle, they all have these unncessarily long finales. Two hours, three hours, they just get longer and longer.
I find it extremely annoying how they purposely try and lengthen the finales. Keeping the sheep-of-a-viewer in suspense. Survivor's season finale for instance. After all the final votes were in and everyone's watching them sitting in Palau or wherever it was, waiting to announce the winner, the host announces "Oh we'll reveal the votes once we get to New York City". What! Just fackin' read the damn names right there! Or like on The Apprentice. Come on now Trump, just how many times do you need to invite the potential employees into the boardroom before you make your decision. "We'll see you back in the boardroom".. for the umpteenth frikkin' time!
And they always try and throw some really lame "twist" in there. "Tonight you will be voting FOR and not AGAINST!" Oh heavens no, not FOR! Jeeze. "Tonight you will be allowed to bring three members back into the boardroom with you, and we'll ask you for your decision in two episodes time!" Go suck an orange Trump, ya rich bastard.
I suppose I can see how some people would enjoy the suspsense (*snicker) but I just find it annoying that the TV stations will do anything, squeeze the orange dry, trying to get just a bit more out of their TV ratings. I guess I'm ranting because yet again, a season finale kept me from watching some good ol' basketball on TV last night. But I'm ranting for all those coolios out there who miss their sports games, wicked-cool documentaries on the discovery channel, or art attack because their siblings were too wrapped up in which shameless woman the bachelor is going to dump next. He made out with your competition woman.. twice! Have you no self-respect!
Confession: I watched the season finale of The Amazing Race. But only because the winning couple was so good hearted! And my brother and sister were watching it anyways, so not like I had much of a choice. I swear! Haha. Eep.
