Data point 1:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Units_of_time/Continuity(Marvel Comics units of time in Transformers.)
There are precisely two useful items there: A 'breem' is 8.3 minutes, and a 'vorn' is 83 years.
Data point 2:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/QuintessonQuintessons are five-fold-symmetrical enemies of the Transformers race.
Posit:
1) Transformers numerical or horological calculation bases may avoid base five because of association with the Quintessons.
2) A non-base-5 timekeeping system is more likely.
3) Timekeeping bases may include such factors as 2,3, and (less likely) 7, as well as combinations of these numbers (4,6,9,12,18,24,36,48), but not factors such as 5,10,15,20,30, or 60.
4) Correct analysis of any two timekeeping units would most likely show repeated numbers, for the same reason that hours and seconds are 60x60 - there may be middle-ground units. So we're looking for squares and cubes of the numbers mentioned in item #3 above.
Analysis:
- 8.3 minutes, given standard accuracy, may refer to a period from 8.25 minutes to 8.35 minutes. 83 years may refer to a period between 82.5 years and 83.5 years.
- There are 31556952 seconds in an average year (calculated over 400 years).
- There are therefore between 5,323,243.4 and 5,196,504.1 breems in a vorn.
- Setting breems to 495.7 seconds (8.262 minutes) and vorns to 83 years, 140 days, 16 hours and 20 minutes gives 5,308,416 breems to the vorn.
And you know, funny thing about 5,308,416.
It's 48,
times 48,
times 48,
times 48,
exactly.
