CCIWA talkfest
Spent the morning at a bunch of business seminars put on by CCIWA. Some of the info was fairly interesting, but it was really more of a chance to network. I really need to get business cards for next time, given the number of times I was asked for them. I took the opportunity to do a little product evangelising and practice schmoozing, skills which have not so much atrophied as never existed in my career to date.
(I need to work on delivery. Rapid-fire cascades of words may be information-dense, but not a great sales pitch per se.)
I got told I should talk to Andrew Forrest about funding, and one guy was trying to give the impression that he might be able to set this up - not that it's really possible to winnow truth from lies in that kind of environment. I did have a nice chat with an architect, some reps from import/export companies and assistive groups, general business support organisations and at least one bank ("Ullo mate, lend me a trillion quid").
