My favorite part of that video is the 'if you were gay' song from Goku to Sanzo. It's just so damn funny. It's perfect though, isn't it? Even if you don't see them as a couple, I think Goku would have to come to terms with Sanzo's sexuality eventually (even if Sanzo doesn't want to come to terms with it himself, ha ha). I've been planning to address this in Constrained Desire for quite some time now. Just haven't gotten to that point in the story, yet.
As for the Saiyuki AU, I decided to take one of the prompts I thought up for 7thnight and write it myself... with some minor adjustments. There will be Catholic!priest Sanzo and sinner!Hakkai, with Bishop Hazel as a rival. I had originally wanted it set in 15th Century England, but instead it's going to be modern-day... and I might break my 'no additional pairings' rule. Because, you know... Gojyo needs love, too. Oh, and I've found the most awesome names for them all. Not that it matters, because the way I've written it you can tell who they are before I even say anything.
I spent hours and hours researching Catholicism, because I didn't know a damn thing about it. I searched for pictures of cathedrals so I could write a colorful description for the beginning; confession booths, so I could describe them believably; the phrases people recite for confession; the rosary, and it's various prayers; and all the mysteries of the rosary. That was just for the first chapter! For the second one I had to research mass and all of it's various prayers, scriptures, and procedures... along with the clothing traditionally worn by Catholic priests. And I'm not even finished with the chapter yet!
I'm actually quite surprised by how much a Catholic priest's robes resemble the Buddhist robes that Sanzo already wears. There's a white robe that goes over the normal black cassock when the priest performs mass, and a scarf-like thing that drapes over the shoulders just like Sanzo's scriptures, except quite a bit longer. On ordinary days, the color of this vestment is green. It makes me wonder how much Minekura knows about Catholicism, anyway. It does feature in her work, after all... most notably with Hakkai. But that Sanzo's outfit had to have been created that way purposely, right? Although, I will say that if anything Sanzo's Buddhist robes are much prettier than the plain Catholic ones.
Why does no one in this town carry any Asahi?! Is it really that difficult just to get a six-pack of my favorite beer?! Damnit man! I've been waiting for months now! I've resorted to drinking Budweiser. BUDWEISER FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!! I hate it.
