The BBC has put together an audio slide show.

This was the point where the general public first realized something was seriously wrong and the the nation (and the world) were heading into serious trouble.

I own my own business making leather masks. Summer is usually very show time of year (Halloween the busiest) but last year I was going crazy with orders. The currencies were all out of wack and the dollar was an all time low. This was great for exporting overseas (the UK were buying stuff at nearly half off), I was shipping to Bangkok,Spain, Italy, even Brazil. This had never happened before, at first I thought "who cares what's on in America I can just sell worldwide". Then the more I thought about it I realized things were about to go off the rails. I banked all the money and changed my IRA and 401k. Perhaps today people could share stories about when they first thought the recession loomed ???
