Wanted: Life on Mars slash recs
I know there's at least two good & big Life on Mars fic comms out there, but the thing is, I've only read a handful of stories in this fandom and halotolerant's already spoiled me with all the wonderful Gene POVs. The emotions in that man! *loves utterly*
*cough* Anyways. I'd really appreciate it if you would just point me to a good LoM genre and rec finding comm (if there is one), or good, tried & tested recs of the following general theme:
- slash, Sam or Gene, paired with each or with someone else (male, obviously; other than that, I'm not picky)
- first time, some kind of loss of virginity, crushes, discovery of gayness, love for the other or other's love, etc. (basically, anything but an established relationship for the main pairing)
- the plot to *smell* of twu vuw vibes; Harlequin, schmoop, mush, romance or what have you - as long as there's a happy end and the reader *gets the strong impression* that some love is growing strong and steady there, it's good
- no clinically bottom! or top!characters (same for sub or dom), heavy angst or whump without totally worth it happy endings that actually make it all better while keeping it real all the way, no sudden twists to the dark side and surprise the-opposite-of-fluffy endings, etc.
What it all boils down to is (besides a big percent of halotolerant's Sam/Gene fics *g*) that I need some comfort reading as opposed to stories that will raise my blood pressure with their blatant character(ization) abuse. As long as it's well written, makes you feel happy after reading, and isn't established relationship - I'll take it! :-)
ETA: Crossovers or fusions are great as well (just no Ashes to Ashes, please, I'd like to remain in happy stuck-in-1973 denial).
