This part, this one right here, is one of my favorites, because it’s so simple, yet shows how much Jared understands Jensen and how much Jensen just likes being around Jared:
And Jensen did let Jared tell him all about the Padalecki Thanksgiving Feast right down to the last side dish. It felt good just to listen and to not have to really think about anything but what Jared was saying and just offer up a comment or two here and there, let Jared do the talking. Jensen drank his coffee and ended up staying for a second cup.
I also really like how you handled Jensen’s guilt when his mom asked after Chad. Of course he still cares about Chad, but Jensen’s hurting and still leery about everyone knowing about the dang letter, so he talked himself right back into thinking that whatever cold shoulder he was giving to Chad, Chad deserved it. Still so very understandable.
Thank goodness Jensen has good people surrounding him like Chris, especially since Chris has been friends with Chad all along as well. I love this part, Chris reminding Jensen who he is fundamentally, and Chad as well:
And he would have argued but Chris didn’t let him start, "Don’t. You need to give him a chance,” and Chris huffed a little, “I mean you of all people know there's a lot more to him than what he lets surface. And you know how you feel when other people make that assumption and just dismiss him. So are you really going to let yourself be that guy?"
And on the flip side is Jared’s conversation with Genevieve, and I so love this part:
Genevieve pinned him with one of her more deadly looks, "Have you ever known Danni to need a messenger?” and she arched her brow at him, “And I am nobody's messenger girl."
Heeeee!
And awwwwwww, Jensen remembered to text Jared and now Jared can go to sleep. :)
Bwa hahaha love Jensen and Danneel’s banter with the whole killing a guy to Superman and spandex, it’s glorious!! And I noticed that Jensen had to slip in a mention of Jared. :P
You handled Jensen’s apology to Chad so well. They’re guys, guys that have been friends for years, so they don’t need a lot of explanation about stuff - they already know all the stuff. lol
Hee hee, this is so damn cute:
“Flix,” Danneel pouted a little, “you have to teach me some computer science words so that I can talk to Misha.”
Felicia set down her tray of drinks and then threw up her hands, “What like you want to RAM his hard drive?” which had Jared and all the rest of the girls giggling.
Danneel was not amused, “Felicia!”
Felicia frowned, “Wait…you want him to RAM your hard drive..?”
“Stop saying hard drive!”
I love all the little quiet moments you put in, too, just enjoying the company of each other, and have I mentioned lately how much I love your descriptive writing, I don’t think so, but I do, so very much. Like this one:
He let the guys go in first and Jared got his white coffee and a bacon sandwich and they sat down together. Chris pulled out his phone and Jared did the same, but Jensen had a book with him which he only opened up after taking that first sip of his coffee. Jared stretched his arms out and up on a yawn before taking a sip of his own, and immediately grabbed another couple of packets of sugar from the middle of the table.
And Chris, god bless him, knows when to keep his mouth shut, but also knows when to say things that need to be said!! Yay!!!
Here’s another favorite, it’s just, oh my god, too funny and I can so see it playing out in my head:
“Looking for any visible indicators of your insanity.”
“What, like this?” and Jared kind of spun around arms flailing into the start of some crazy gesture when he dropped his ice cream that they had literally just got moments before at Jared’s insistence.
Jensen snickered a little but then sucked in his lips to try and cover and he placed his hand over his mouth to hold it in.
Jared pouted, he’d barely even touched it. And he was staring down at the smooshy melty carnage when Jensen’s fully intact ice cream dropped into his eye line.
:D:D You know at that juncture I think Jared most wanted Jensen to know that he was there for him, and well you know he doesn't want to make Jensen feel uncomfortable or like being a virgin somehow makes him weird/pitiable. And well you know as we discussed I think that the letter would also have kind of been confirmation for Jared that Jensen is gay. But yeah Jared's not pushing either issue, and it doesn't quite sit right with him how he came to know those things. So yeah lol And he certainly knows enough to know that Jensen values their friendship/enjoys being in Jared's company. So providing distractions from things Jensen doesn't want to think about/making him feel better.
And ahh I am still so thrilled that you liked all the hurty bits with Chad, having things feel somewhat real was very important to me.
CHRIS FTW!! BWA HA!! Am I allowed to say that about my own character? lmao but uh yes Chris, keeping it real and telling it like it is and well he cares about both his friends. And well you know, Chad is pissed at Chris too, and Jensen and Chad patching things up puts Chad in a better place for forgiving Chris for lying to him too.
And heeee thank you sweetie *smooches* it was fun getting to write more Genevieve, and I don't know it just felt right here to have her be the one to have this conversation with Jared :)
and bwa ha yes!! I couldn't just leave Jared hanging like that, and neither could Jensen, as soon as he got a moment to himself Jared was absolutely his first thought *nods* ;P ♥
JENSEN AND DANNEEL BANTER!!! is my most very favourite thing I want to write fic of them bantering all the time forever LOL!! *licks and squees* SO happy you mentioned that convo because heeeeeeeeeeeee and :D:D why yes, yes he did bring up Jared of his own volition, hmm I wonder why that could be heeee :D:D:D
ah the apology, thanks honey, and yes buys, no smooshyness lol but yeah it needed to happen and not just for their friendship, but I think you know for Jensen also it was an important part in helping him be more accepting of himself too, and well you know, knowing that Chad accepts that part of him too :)
Thank you for the Felicia appreciation (and bwa ha I totally just said Charlie in my had and then was like wait...lol) again wish I could have done more with her, and well all the characters really, but uh yes who doesn't like a good lame innuendo? lol ;P
and ahhhhhhhhh *smishes* I do always so freak out over my non-dialogue portion of things haha so thank you, I do so want all the parts to be shiny *clings* ♥♥ and quiet moments they do say quite a lot don't they? :)
And Chris just keeps on keeping on haha well there's no way Chris wouldn't notice the way Jared was staring at Jensen, and I'd definitely say that Jared wears his emotions openly
The kiss!! I remember I was like "hmm this might be too schmoopy" and then you were all "what!? You have to put that in immediately...or when you actually write that part." and uh yes lol You were right of course, it had to go in, I do adore it, and I'm really happy that you do too
