(no subject)
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! Today sure was interesting.
My car is out of service at the moment. It was making terrifying noises yesterday, and I finally got my dad to check it out. We went to a mechanic just before they closed shop for the weekend; turns out there's something wrong with the wheel --- I can't remember exactly what it is for the life of me (something is loose that shouldn't be?), but it's not a good idea to drive on freeways for now. We'll have to take it back to the shop on Monday...in the meantime I have my grandmother's car to drive myself to work & stuff.
I was in a foul mood earlier because I thought I wouldn't be able to attend Jacqui's 21st birthday drinking binge party in Santa Cruz, because I do NOT feel comfortable driving my grandma's car on highway 17 (she's not too hot on the idea either). But now Mike's going, and I can catch a ride with him. Disaster averted! \o/ I'm really not going to drink much anyway...
My iPod is acting funky. I turned it on, and as it booted up it made a pathetic noise and shut off; the screen froze and faded out in a rather alarming way. I couldn't turn it back on. Now that I'm finally plugging it into my laptop, it's telling me a low battery is the cause --- but it's never acted quite like that before. Now I'm worried something is wrong with it. :(
Anyway, birthday stuff: I had a very yummy dinner at Kincaid's, which is an awesome & expensive steak house...oh god, filet mignon. Kill me now. I practically licked my plate clean. No room for dessert!
Lo and behold, my mom did it again. She bugged me and bugged me for a birthday wish list, then bought stuff for me that wasn't on the list. As usual, it's clothing...because yeah, I really need more clothing. *sigh* So I didn't get Watchmen (and a couple other things) for my birthday as a result of this. :( But I DID get a really awesome pair of suede boots, and I can now add The Court Jester, The Age of Innocence, and Immortal Beloved to my DVD collection. So yay!
When I was still in my funk earlier today, this video made me feel a lot better:
