Apartment (before)

I took some "before" pictures of my apartment living room and hallway.

The space is *tiny* so it's really hard to get a decent shot, but I think you get the general idea with these.  It's very... white.  Which I like.  I like white, but even for me... it's a little white.

Pros of the Space:
- Still digging the walnut stained floors.
- The art deco faux ( Read more... )

Asdfghjkl it's so, so pretty. If you have a brightly colored afghan-style thing for the couch, maybe it would help your "Everything's tooo whiiiite" problem. (yes those windows are strange, and I can't get over those hardwood floor. So prettyyyyyy...) And that mantle looks like a perfect place to put artwork, clocks and weird things.

(find/make a shelf for the nook of craziness? Or, I don't know how it's called, but use those superstrong tape-like things that you can use to put up hooks and the like on walls without making holes? Since it's scary flimsy walls.)

I put up things on the walls no matter where I live -if there are pictures on the walls, it's home. Useless stupid junk that looks cool is also fun to have. I'm also a big fan of DIY things, pillows, quilts, that kind of thing.

(ttyl, luv)

I think the plan is to get a fairly colorful, traditional type rug... I think. That way they'll be a bit of color, but since it will be grounded, it should still be understated? Also, plants should add their own color I think... I like the blanket idea, but I'm searching my hardest for a reasonably priced Welsh plaid wool blanket. It's proving to be difficult.

Nook of crazy is crazy. I'm thinking of trying to find some shelves, but it's such an awkward size. Blerg.

I love how airy and fresh it looks!

As for adding some color, you might want to add a few touches of your favorite colors/combinations here and there featured on throws/pillows/figurines/plushes, etc.

A place doesn't feel like a home for me unless it doesn't have color, function, and my favorite beddings.

Thanks for adding me. I found you via ourbedrooms :)

Thank you! I just moved in two months ago so it's still trying to work it's way into being 'homey'.

I *do* need color and pattern -- you're absolutely right. I think I'm a little afraid of both of them. But yeah, I really need to work through it, lol.

Thanks for friending me! I like new friends. :)

(You can just... uh. Ignore the fandom stuff... /embarrassed)
