It's a small world after all

I'll admit it, my last entry was rather dull, and a cop out from writing about what I've actually been doing.

I've got lots to write about, but no promises as to how much I'll write today.

Last week I was meandering to school when I spied with my little eye(s) something red and white. Aha! It was a Canadian Flag on somebody's big, huge, traveller's backpack! Apparently seeing a Canadian flag gets me really excited and ballsy, because I decided to chat with them. Picture this: I'm walking faster and faster to try and catch up with these two people, they're walking away from me and I stop them in the street by jumping in front of them. I have no idea what they were thinking....You hear all sorts of horror stories about Italian gypsies trying to accost you in the street by throwing babies at you, or other methods of distraction. Oh no, here's a gypsy (a clean one, but still a gypsy) trying to distract us and steal our money! Hehe, no no, it was just me. So I stop these people by jumping in front of them and saying "Hey, I noticed you have a Canadian Flag on your backpack. Are you Canadian?" (I know, a stupid question, but I needed an opener). The gal says "Yeah, we're from Toronto" and I say "Oh, I'm from near there. I'm from Guelph." The guy looks at me like I have eighteen heads and informs me that they're from Guelph. So we do the whole what highschool did you go to routine, when suddenly the girl interrupts and says "Are you Jen?", to which I reply "You're Lynn". So, here we are on the streets of Florence, a gazillion miles from Guelph (and really, who has even heard of our small little town), meeting "random" Canadians, and it turns out we know eachother.

So Lynn and her husband Ian are studying in London through the University of Guelph. I've sort of known Lynn since highschool through various friends that have known her. First Andrea, then LJ, then she worked at the Y and was friends with Steph. Apparently Steph had told her I was in Italy, but she forgot what city I was in. But I found her! Strange. So we had her and Ian over for dinner and had a great time.

Unfortunately at the same time my friend Jennifer was supposed to be visiting from Newfoundland, but due to situations beyond her control she had to cut her trip short and skip Italia. We missed you this trip, but we'll catch up with you in Newfoundland.
