Where did the Spring Go?

May 29, 2014 22:24

I was asking myself that recently. Especially when I realized that I hadn't updated any of my on-line journals since March.

I'm going to blame the drought. Because I can.

May's nearly over, and the most exciting things to happen revolve around my family members.

Mom had eye surgery on the 15th, still in relation to controlling her glaucoma (as the one back in December was to do,) and we won't know if it'll relieve the pressure to stabilize her enough to get eye glasses to correct her vision. But, two weeks later, she no longer looks like someone's been hitting her in the right eye. And, she's allowed to use her CPAP (A mask that covers her mouth and nose for sleeping problems) again... she had to buy new everything, since she hadn't been using it in about a year.

Dad had a tumble in the Family Room last week... because he, "had to veer around you two, taking up the whole room." Right. The Brother and I were in the area between the kitchen opening and the hallway opening (maybe three feet of wall) and more towards the hallways, discussing something. Dad had a clear path to the downstairs bathroom, we really weren't in his way, he veered because he felt the need to. ::eyeroll:

It took him awhile, to turn over and crawl to the kitchen counter/bar area to use that to help leverage himself up. The Brother and I were a little sympathetic, but encouraged him to keep moving his feet under himself... since the man tried to leverage up with one of his feet rolled to the side.

Yes, Dad's fine. Another broken toenail, that he'll have his podiatrist check on in a few weeks (he's got that extremity desensitivity that some diabetics get.) And a bruise just below the kneecap on his weaker leg. Some ice, some Icy Hot, and constant reminders to prop his knee up have helped.

And what were my Brother and I talking about so intently? His Dwarven Helm (with Red Beard.) He needed it for a "Dwarven Cleric" RPG at KublaCon Memorial Day Weekend. We had to discuss, Horns (curvature and positioning on the helm) and I had to figure out where to sew the buttons so that the beard would hang correctly.

I saw him today and he told me, "At the start of the game (All dwarfs, and all were Clerics (the magic users that are more healers... but CAN fight, a little bit), I pulled it out, plopped it on my head, the GM (Game Master) shook his head and handed over the 'Best Role-Playing Pin' to me. Because I had a *costume*!"

My health is good. But my allergies are kicking my butt.

I *might* go visit my sister's house in August... so that I can then escort my niece to California. Since the Sister is going to K-Con (Korean Pop-Culture Convention) in LA, and my Brother-in-law can't get that kind of time off. Plus? He's saving his days off, since his father is terminal with Liver Cancer (though, he's been terminal since March.)

Californian Primary Election is on Tuesday. And yes, I'll be working the Election Precinct.
