When Dean got Castiel talking about heaven, I had a moment of "Wait, people talking out their problems and sharing important information like adults? What show am I watching?"
My dad, of course, phoned me during the episode to say, "Fred is BJ from MASH!" That was five minutes after I hung up my phone call to him to make sure he was watching and have a mutual laugh over Castiel interrogating a cat who thinks he's a dumbass.
Sam, if that's your dreamworld, you are one sad individual. I had a massive and probably mean laugh over the "Don is alive!" moment. Wah wah.

LMAO! It's funny cuz it's true. I had the same reaction!

Now if only we could get Sam and Dean to do that and have it stick.
Sam, if that's your dreamworld, you are one sad individual.
We've seen that before though, with Hallucifer telling Sam that "It had to be a mess, Sam, or you wouldn't believe it was your life."
Okay, I have been so busy 'do not want'-ing over Sam's Amelia flashbacks that I have not stopped to ponder the possibility that I'm supposed to be thinking that and that Sam's dreamt that whole world up somehow. But now that I see it spelled out here, I'm all...d'oh. That makes SO much more sense that way and I hope you are right. Though you have another excellent point in that you'd think he'd of dreamed up something nicer.
Other than the Sam flashbacks, though, I loved this one, cheesiness and all. =)
The more I think about it, the more this idea is sticking with me. I'd already noticed some Dean in Amelia in her flannel shirts and recreational drinking. Now we have Amelia's dad opening beer bottles the same way Dean does and Sam commenting on it. And there was an episode where Sam's shirt was the exact same color and pattern as Amelia's motel room wallpaper. I really don't think Sam's flashbacks are him straight-up remembering things that happened with Amelia.
Belatedly clearing out the inbox and I realized I'd missed this comment. I'm glad I caught it now, though, because holy attention to detail, Batman. That's so awesome and yeah, no way all that is coincidental. I need to go rewatch all that stuff. I also apparently need to focus on other stuff besides Sam's hair. ;)
I think Sam's shirt matching Amelia's wallpaper was in "Blood Brother." It was definitely at the end; I don't remember about the rest of the episode. I know I commented on it on somebody's LJ and that person went back and posted a cap of that scene, but I can't find it now.
OMG, when Cas said "Shenanigans" i literally jumped off the couch, wheee! SO HAPPY!
I have so much to write in my own post, which I'll do after this, but I wanted to say that I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on the "living in a dream" thing in regards to Sam and Amelia. On the one hand, they probably just meant it allegorically, with Sam thinking he could ever have a normal life truly being just a dream. But i would LOVE if it was something more literal. Hmm!
Now to tabulate as many of the Warner Bros refs I can remember. And yay, another Animaniacs fan! Or should I say faboo? :) ::high-fives::

I thought so too at first, but they linked one of the flashbacks to the orderly talking about how some of the elderly residents run and hide in their own heads, which made me think it might all be more literal than that.
Plus, I've been noticing some of Dean's traits in Amelia, and now Sam commented on how Amelia's dad opens beer bottles the same way Dean does. And remember the ep where Sam's shirt was an exact match for Amelia's motel room wallpaper?
I'm just having a hard time believing that the Amelia flashbacks are straight-up memories of things that happened.
Because if Sam disappeared into a dream world that he created for himself, he really sucks at it. I know my little fantasy daydreams don't involve people verbally abusing me.
Well Sam's Lucifer hallucination told Sam that if the world was good, Sam wouldn't believe it was real in Hello Cruel World. Amelia may well be vocalizing Sam's insecurities. He hit the dog, now he needs to take care of it and not consider himself a hero equals he let Lucifer out and fixing it doesn't make him a hero. Sam looks like a creepy serial killer equals Sam IS a serial killer of monsters and he doesn't look the way he dreamed of much of his life(and Bela described hunters as sociopathic serial killers in season 3). Sam's hallucinations have never been perfect. He has never had a WIAWSNB episode where he was happy and felt good about himself. So an abusive Amelia lets him deal with his own insecurities. Better yet, as Amelia accepts him, he is in turn accepting that although he is broken, he isn't that bad of a person.

Thank you! I remember Hallucifer saying that, but I couldn't remember which episode. I was going to try to look it up tonight, but now I don't have to. *\0/*

On the other hand, as Amelia came to accept him, Amelia's dad showed up to crap all over him, so maybe he's not making as much progress as all that. ;-)
