SPN Ep: Point of No Return

So that was the big 100th episode, eh?

Certainly some big things happened, and there were definitely parts of the episode I liked (I swear, I'll get to them in a minute), but overall it felt like not enough plot stretched over too long a time. The dialogue got really repetitive there for awhile, and Jeremy Carver couldn't seem to construct a convincing argument for either side of the apocalypse. There seemed to be an awful lot of 'please's and 'trust me's and 'take my word for it's, rather than logically constructed arguments.

That said, I loved that after all the times Dean has been able to find a runaway Sam because he knows Sam so well, Sam was able to find a runaway Dean for the same reason.

Poor Sam. It was hard enough trying to motivate 2 people who had hit rock bottom last week. This week he had 3, plus one kid who wanted to say yes to an angel because he didn't understand what was really going on. Meanwhile, Sam's trying to keep his own spirits up, find an alternate solution to the apocalypse, and motivate a bunch of people who aren't in the mood to listen to a word he says.

And poor Adam. He was totally set up by the used car salesman of the angel set. Sadly, Zachariah was right about one thing: Sam and Dean saved each other and left Adam behind. It obviously wasn't intentional, but I wonder how it looks from Adam's side of the door?

So did Michael possess Adam, or just take him home? There was a lot of discussion on my lists a few episodes ago about whether or not Adam could take Dean's place as Michael's vessel because the bloodline ran through John, not Mary. If the lack of flaming eyeballs is anything to go by, Adam could serve as a host for Michael just like John did, but it looks like being Sam's half brother wasn't enough to make it to the final battle. Sam and Dean being brothers seems to be just as important as having the proper genetics to be vessels.

Castiel seems to have gotten a suspicious amount of his angel mojo back. He was using his powers all over the place tonight. And that was quite the ass kicking he handed Dean. You can't really blame him though. He gave up everything because he had faith that Dean could stop the apocalypse, and at that point Dean couldn't have cared less about it.

How ironic was it that after all that worry about Sam turning evil (going all the way back to season 2), it was Dean who said yes first? I'm glad he changed his mind about being Michael's vessel, but I wish he'd done it because it was the right thing to do, not because he can't say no to Sammy's puppy eyes. The ending looked very hopeful, with Dean wanting to work with Sam again to find their own way out of the apocalypse, but there are still 4 episodes left and we haven't seen that one scene Jared and Jensen recently talked about at the L.A. con, so I have a feeling that things are still going to get worse before they get better.

Overall, it wasn't the worst episode ever, but I expected something a little more from the 100th episode. I guess I'll just have to settle for Zachariah being dead, which does not make me unhappy at all.
