Rantings from the bonfire

Nov 30, 2009 02:28

I am thankful for the God of the universe, for friends who reflect this God, for food in the fridge, for the new Epica, for Phantom of the Opera, for the way true - and fake - friends receive great news, and for the weeks of the amazing, from Unified Underground to Europe to the Cemetery Potluck to dancesofvicenyc..

..ok, and having outfits for all of the above ;)

And also thankful for having the gift in seeing the beauty in the dark and mysterious..

And thankful for my relatively OK health (as opposed to the alternative)..

I am thankful for amazing people like Ib, Jo, Eric, Chris, Annie and Amanda and their Scandinavian counterparts, Troy, the local Scene, my sanctified Freak Family that really really needs to gather (are you listening cerberus777, exquisitetrash, prosector, stillitwatches, Naomi, Natalie, April, Bob & Jessika, Mom Goth Donna, David Dellman, Mitch, Matt, Landon, Amethyst, whoever I missed?), Ken, Dave, Richard from Australia.. and the editors of MetroMix and The Village Voice..

I'm just plain thankful.. what else can I say? Sweet potato pie, perhaps?

THURSDAY:

After a great dinner with my parents and oldest nephew, I came home to go downtown and tell one of my "friends" about my great news regarding the 2 NYC style magazine pic inclusions.. suddenly I lose this "friend" because of that news.. that made my Thanksgiving a bit too interesting for my own good..

FRIDAY:

Nice day off work, I must admit.. I got up nice and late and piddled about for the good part of the afternoon, though still reeling from the events from last night..

Enough to lose a few more friends.. over the very same piece of news.. my personal favorite: "Why are you telling me this?" That's how a friend responds to good news, right?

I went to Daved's pre-moving party and had a long and good talk with Dave about, well, what happened last night, among other things.. and I never, ever, ever want to see Brüno ever again..

SATURDAY:

I did not lose any friends today!!!

It's that bad.

I got up as early as I could on purpose because the cleaning lady was coming.. once again she rearranged my entire apartment to her liking and I could not do anything about it (she speaks not one word of English) but I am getting really upset about having to re-rearrange my apartment literally every time she comes by.. though out of fairness I was so exhausted I could only sleep through her cleaning..

Later on I got dressed into casual-goth and went to spellbound_dc's Freak Bazaar (thank you pmhrh and shadow27) where I run into Zak's now massive Zatch Creations collection of leather goodness, also the return of Silver Dragon Studios (the reason my paycheck leaves my site on many an occasion).. while I was very good and only bought a nice black Spooky spider-web pattern towel set (you know, when the normies need to use the loo) and then returned home after talking for a bit with Arwen and Fernanda..

I fixed myself this and then got a bit more fancied for dcmidnight and spellbound_dc. Hung quite a lot with Will (which I needed) while seeing dharmata101, Andy, xspookykittyx, shadow27 and pmhrh, coffinwolf, violinpadraic, tuath13, and then literally was scared out of the place because of DJ Spider's set (sorry I have to be honest, it was horrible!!)..

I went up to dcmidnight for a while to wish Josh a happy birthday, to see carolynn_dc leave (oops, sorry) and then to be enchanted by DJ Javier's superlative musical gems, which is what I expect from someone as musically intuned as he is, and also dj_vlad, and that, my friends, was my Saturday night..

SUNDAY:

I decided to do brunch again, so I did, unfortunately by myself :( I did get to hang with Ken later on when he surprised me by showing up in DC. We went magazine-hunting that day for my need to find the 2 NYC style magazine hard copies as trophies of my newly-found self-esteem; couldn't find them anywhere. But as a reward for making him walk around NW DC trying to find magazines, he returns the favor and has me walk from Connecticut Avenue.. to 23rd and E Sts. NW where he parked his car. Thanks. Really. My feet still hurt.

So of course I returned home and somehow managed to make it to my apartment and collapse.. for 7 hours.

Being in magazines has given me a perspective I would never have imagined otherwise and has helped me see my true friends.. and even the fake ones.. for what they all really are, and for that I am ultimately grateful.

Good thing the God I am into is absolutely consistent.. and perfect.
