"a room without books is as a body without a soul"...

I'm finally fangirling for a "legit" reason.  Mainly, the publication of an actual book (not fanfic, not fanart, not manga on the internet) that I absolutely can't wait to read.  Like, seriously can't wait to read.

Robin McKinley is one of my favorite authors and she has a book called "Chalice" that came out really recently.  I missed the period of waiting for it to be published because I haven't been stalking the progress of my favorite authors recently... since Ireland really.  But omg... what a great surprise this morning to find this book.

This book sounds absolutely fantastic (just because I love McKinley's writing style, and the storyline sounds like it's going to be fun).  So yeah... I have to check my bank account to see if I have enough money to purchase this book.  I really want it.  Now.

To keep with the topic of books, I've decided to start reading more.  I've been reading manga and fanfic lately, and that's about it.  Well, besides Shakespeare haha.  I attended the "Mark Twain Tonight!" performance last night and absolutely loved it.  I kind of love Mark Twain now, and I want to go see that performance again.  Hal Holbrook was amazing, and the words - do I need to say it?

So afterwards I went and took out some Mark Twain books from the library, two story books with longer stories and short stories, and one book of speeches.

Since last night (well, before then, I just haven't thought about it a ton) I've decided that I'm going to read more.  For the rest of the year, my goal is to finish the following books:

Chalice, by Robin McKinley
The Collector, by John Fowles
The Prince and the Pauper, by Mark Twain
Cybele's Secret, by Juliet Marillier
The Road, by Cormac McCarthy
the book of Mark Twain's speeches

It might be a little ambitious, considering I need to take the GRE's still, write another story for my portfolio for grad school, and apply to grad school by January 1 (and 5th)... but oh well.  I want to read more.  I've gotten into the bad habit of putzing around instead of increasing my literary knowledge, and I want to fix that now.

So... full speed ahead!
