My goal for the next few weeks is to try to start reading more. Now that grad school and my thesis is done, and the Once Upon A Time season finale has marked the end of the shows I keep up with now, I find myself at a loss sometimes for what to do. And I have a TON of books I've been wanting to read. So I'm trying to get back in the habit of

I have added you on Goodreads! I admit I haven't read a 'real' book in a few weeks, I've been reading fanfic a lot, but I am hoping to get back into tackling the piles of books I have after I'm done with my last assignment. I will rec anything I think is good though!

Yay! And I have added you back! :) I just finished a real book yesterday, but I hadn't picked it up in weeks. And I haven't really been reading fic either lately... idk what I've been doing! lol. But getting back into reading can be hard... but I feel like once you're there it's easy to stay in a book (if it's good). And lol yeah, reccing is hard. I'm looking at all my rating stuff on goodreads and I give 5 stars to almost anything. If I like it, I like it, it gets 5 stars, I rec it :P

I feel like sometimes it takes me ages to get into a real book. I tried going back to the second Game of Thrones book and found it skips too much and while I could read big chunks of it in one go, I wasn't really enjoying it, I was just trying to make sense of what was going on. I think after I've written my essay I am going to start reading The Hound of the D'urbervilles again and then I can finally give it to my mum and let her bend the spine because she's afraid to read it at the moment because I grumble about spine-bending. Really though I have way too many books that I've started and never finished. (I wonder if part of the problem also is that I read things on my iPad a lot and the internet is right there so I end up on A03 wading through terrible ( ... )

Yes! I find it difficult to get into the story when the sections are so short. I find myself wanting to skip ahead to get to the next part of one person's story instead of sitting through numerous other stories before it comes back, and then I feel disappointed because GRR Martin has glossed over whatever it was I was interested in. All in all, I don't think I'm seeing what everyone else is so sold by, but I think that's because I like tighter storytelling or something, maybe? I'm not really sure why, also, there needs to be so many different POVs, I don't know how they all lend to the plot, but then I'm still on Book Two, maybe it gets better as they go along.
