So I've been wanting to make a mix about Next to Normal and it took a lot of time and stuff, but I think I finally did something that is somewhat decent. I think I could have done better, but this is what it is. Possibly the first of many N2N mixes, The Goodmans.
Mother, Father by Journey
It just really reminds me of the whole story.
Perfect by Alanis Morissette
Reminds me a lot of Natalie's feelings that she needs to be the best for her parents because of her mother favoring Gabe and he isn't even there. She needs to be perfect for them.
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
This is the torment both Diana and Natalie go through. They're torn over what to believe. What they're used to or what they can be.
Keeping Me Alive by The Afters
Obviously this is Gabe and Diana. Diana is keeping Gabe alive. Without her, he would be nothing really.
In My Head by Anna Nalick
Gabe is only in Diana's head and she knows that to a point. Doesn't mean she'll ignore him or anything. She accepts him and knows he's her son.
There's a Place for Us by Barbara Streisand
Obviously Gabe telling Diana about the afterlife and wanting her to join him there.
Mad World by Alex Parks
There are many versions of this song, but I chose this one. It's simple and it explains Diana's struggle with her bipolar disorder.
More Time by NeedToBreathe
Dan to Diana. Him wanting to make their relationship and everything else better for her.
All That Matters by Addison Road
Natalie and Henry. Her saying what matters to them.
Angel by Sarah McLachlan
Diana to Natalie and trying to help her understand why she's leaving and how she's sorry for fucking her life up to a point. Trying to give some motherly advice.
Dream On by Tori Amos
Despite the verbal interaction at the beginning of this song, I really love this version. It shows that they all have dreams. Natalie dreams for a better life for herself and Henry. Natalie dreams for a life of freedom.
Sorrow (Acoustic Version) by Bad Religion
Dan and Gabe all the way. Dan finally accepting Gabe and dealing with his passing.
