Adina lounges in a chair her girlfriend had crafted with her own hand. It was made with bamboo and woven dry leaves. She didn’t understand how quickly her girlfriend was able to put it together, but it had only taken a few hours. She had reduced it to her cylon mind, but there was such precision and care put into that there was no way it could only be her cylon half. Adina knew that. This was her favorite place to be. Just sitting in the chair, staring toward the woods with the shade of a tall tree above her shielding her from the sun.
“Comfortable as hell, isn’t it?” Lee breaks the peacefulness of the situation, causing the cylon to jump in her seat, “Sorry.” He smirks.
“There’s…there are things that look like rabbits. Not quite, but they’re close.” She swallows, just staring mostly, “You and Toni…you were together on the Galactica weren’t you…” Adina glances toward the branches of the trees, “While I was here.”
“I’m not exactly…Why are you asking me this?”
She smirks slightly, “I see the way she looks at you; The way you look at her in return.”
“It means nothing.” He shakes his head slowly as it leans down to look toward his shoes, “Nothing.”
Adina is quiet for a few moments, before continuing to speak, “Was she sick again? The wheelchair and all…”
“She had a bad attack. Something about her balance wasn’t able to fix itself. Cottle thinks it hasn’t been able to stabilize because of her heart being irregular or something. I don’t know. It is what it is.” He picks his head up, looking at the trees as well, “It’s gotten better since she’s been here though; Since she’s been with you.” It almost made him feel guilty. He obviously couldn’t provide the same care she could. She fixed the woman he loved, the same woman she loved. It made his head hurt.
“The President was caring for her during that time…” It was more of a question than a statement.
“No…she and her care were entrusted to me. I promised her I would take care of her. She stayed with me in my cabin. I wasn’t about to take my eye off her.” He speaks honestly and she can tell, it makes her smile a little.
“She talks all the time. Especially in her sleep-”
Lee snorts, “I know.”
She takes a moment before she continues, “Always talks about her baby with Cottle.”
He raises an eyebrow, “Cottle?” They look at each other finally, busting into laughter, “What the frak-” He says in between chortles, “Cottle?”
Adina nods slowly, her smirk fading quickly, “So, between you or him, one of you got her pregnant.” She says finally.
“What?” He replies quietly.
“She’s…Everything is better. Whether it be her balance, her heartbeat…everything, Lee.” She smiles a little, “I think she knows she is. Especially since she refuses to go see Cottle. Maybe a bad falling out since they did the deed. I know she is, Lee. I can feel it in my frakking bones.”
The term is very rash from her, especially coming from her. It almost surprises him. “I um…She has to be checked. We have to know.” Lee attempts to cover his excitement, “To protect her.”
“Of course.” Adina can tell his guilt, but she also knows that her girlfriend’s aversion to her ‘favorite’ doctor was very out of character. She didn’t care. She loved her all of her heart and no matter who fathered the child, it would be her own in the long run. She stands, moving to face him, “We have to protect Toni. She and our child are the only ones that matter right now…anymore.”
