A/N: Laura begins doesn't exactly like her pedestal all that much.
Laura sighs, the home on Earth fully built by the metal centurions so it went up very quickly. Everyone wanted the most powerful family on the planet to live well off. The metal beings also helped build shelter for the families; As many as they could. She slowly walks in the greatly constructed place and it almost brings tears to her eyes.
“I told you that I’d give you the cabin by the stream.” Bill smiles, wrapping his arm around her from behind her. He speaks with his chin resting on her shoulder.
“I know.” She nods slowly.
He waits a moment before continuing, “You don’t like it.”
“Of course I like it, Bill.”
“I know you. I’m not saying you hate it, but it isn’t your favorite.”
Laura swallows, turning to face him, “It isn’t that. It’s that this place is so amazing.”
Bill shakes his head a little, not following her.
“It’s so amazing and the other people down there are living in dilapidated housing that they only can settle for-”
“It will get better. It takes time.”
“Our place didn’t. Ours is right here and it’s so perfect.” She looks him in the eye, “I have you, I have my girls back, I have a ground beneath my feet and a sun on my face and…everything is just so damn perfect. I don‘t want it to end.”
“It isn’t going to end. You have nothing to worry about.”
“You don’t know that.” Laura puts her head on his chest, just below his shoulder, “No one knows that.”
