Adjustments

Today I packed my bag for the AAR conference, which makes it feel real.  It's the largest suitcase I've ever taken on a trip like this, and I have lots of extra space in it.  I'm resisting the temptation to pack a bunch of clothes I won't need.  Tomorrow I'll print off my ticket info and hotel reservations.  That'll feel mighty real.

I never did find my usb thumb. That's okay.  The beauty of having a backup is that nothing is irretrievably lost.  After work tomorrow I'll pick up a replacement.

Student loan joy: Today I got the letter confirming the reassessment of my payments that I applied for back in May. It arrived on the 25th of October. For a period that ends on the 31st of this same month.  Nice bureaucracy, guys.  The up side is that the money I've over-paid them will go on the principal of my loan.

When I come back I'll likely learn the results of the CAMH job interview.  The job starts on November 8th, which is really soon. Despite knowing that I could do the job and do it well, the idea of having a "career" job is a bit of a mental adjustment.  While it would be great to be able to stay in Toronto and work here, I also saw an interesting fellowship in LGBT History  at a school in the US. I may apply for it if things don't pan out here.
