- I totally vegged yesterday and it was awesome. mr_pugh had picked up some snacks, including a chocolate bunny. I picked up some food and made a great dinner. Brown rice, cooked to perfection in the rice steamer. To this I added smoked tofu fried with mushrooms, onions, corn, peas, green beans, carrots and lima beans. I also added some vegan chicken made from mushrooms that I picked up in a Chinese grocery. I added some flax seeds for fiber, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids. I flavoured my portion with chilli powder and cayenne. Very nice- I like it spicy. This morning I had hashbrowns with crumbled extra firm tofu and onions flavoured with paprika, pepper and garlic powder. I also made a great salad with chickpeas, green and orange peppers, and onions, tossed with a bit of olive oil and flavoured with allspice and cumin.
- I had an amazing sleep. My, dreams featured Det. Carlton Lassiter and murder mysteries, two things I love. I got to sleep in. It was pretty sweet.
- Today I'm going shopping for conditioner, shoes for mr_pugh , and perhaps some new jeans for me. He really needs new sneakers and I just want some jeans that aren't swimming on me. Something with some lycra maybe, so they can shrink with my increasing compactness.
- I love the internet. What an amazing freakin tool. I can find so much out in minutes without even leaving my chair. This was invented during my lifetime. I feel like I live in the future. I can talk to people all over the planet. What a cool world.
- I love my hair straightener. What an easy way to get perfect bangs. It makes me feel like I just stepped off the set of Friends.
- I read some non-slash psych fanfiction (so odd for me) and voted in the psychfic.com contest. An lj friend is in the running in a number of categories. I wish the best of luck to egorstandish , even if I did tragically misunderstand what being a "Carlton Lassiter gun porn whore" entailed. But that's the fault of my own perverse brain.
- I found out that the nearest city rec centre offers free aerobics and aquafit classes. I'm so going. I'll need to bring my sneakers home from work. I can't work out in heels or boots.
- I organized my facebook friends into categories (people from hishschool, relatives, people I met through activism, etc.). I realize there are some people on my friends list that I had forgotten were there since I rarely see them post. Also, I have some friends that I can't actually place. Life is like that. I have LJ friends I can't remember how I found either. But they've become important to me since I read about their lives so much. Weird.
- I'm loving the increased warmth and sunshine. How awesome is this spring feeling?
- At the suggestion of misslynx I have joined weepingcock, the community about funny sex scenes in fiction. I anticipate an increase in laughter in my office.
- I watched Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke. Holy lack of continuity, Batman! Clearly a film made by people who know sketch comedy better than fiction narrative, yet also has the seeds of things like Mad Tv and 80s buddy comedies in it too. Plus it's status as the grandad of current pot comedies is clearly there, not only in its content, but in the style in which it's delivered. Overall, not a good film, yet it had a handful of moments that were so disturbingly hilarious that I'd watch it all again for those.
- Interesting discussion on my Foucault mailing list about his stance on humanism. It brings to the foreground for me issues such as whether or not I think life has a purpose or whether there is such a thing as human nature.
- I got my final rejection letter, this time from the Canadian Council for the Arts. In another month I begin the process again, this time adding the first nations and toronto grant applications to the mix. I could see how writing applications for grants to write books could easily take up the time and effort of actually writing books. Ironic?
- I may be going on a trip that is purely social. But first I need to get some contact info. This is proving surprisingly difficult.
