Miranda wasn’t holiday shopping like so many others at the mall today. She wasn’t even at a point where she had a list of things to purchase for anyone, which was so unusual for her. No, she was window shopping mostly, but also trying to find a few new pairs of jeans on sale; even if they weren’t a staple of her wardrobe, she liked having a few pairs in her closet and the ones she currently had were starting to look a little ragged and unacceptable for anything more than lounging in.
She had already tried a handful of stores in the mall and had come away empty handed from each one. They were either out of stock in her size, too distressed for her to feel good about purchasing, or so low she was pretty sure she would never be able to sit in them without being indecent. She was about ready to give up by the time she stepped into American Eagle, and the crowd inside the store wasn’t making that option look any less unappealing. “Excuse me.” She said as she tried to move around a tall blond man without running into another woman on her other side.
