Laine might not celebrate Thanksgiving itself, but she had embraced Black Friday wholeheartedly. Partly because if she could get good deals on gifts for her family, it meant she wasn’t spending as much overall. Shipping overseas was murder on a bank account. Also, as mad as she might sound for admitting it, she loved the atmosphere; it was frenetic, chaotic and somewhat akin to what backstage at the ballet felt like, only with more shoving.
Ena, bless her, had agreed to leave Leilani with Colby for the morning and accompany Laine on her search for good deals. She wasn’t looking for anything electronic related, so they hadn’t bothered waking up at midnight to traipse around the city, but even so she wasn’t expecting it to be too quiet. As they stepped into Target, she glanced at Ena, “So, what is it you’re looking for?” She asked her cousin, pulling out her own list.
