Ava did a lot of cooking throughout the year but usually never more than at the holidays. The only exception was last year, when she'd been at her loneliest, and things were a bit different now. So she didn't mind that she was baking tonight, then doing some cooking tomorrow at Rori's.
She finished mixing the dough for the rolls she was making, then passed the bowl to Marie. "I um, find kneading to be therapeutic," she offered, dusting flour off her hands onto her apron. She didn't know what to do for Marie, and it occurred to her that maybe cooking might not be the stress reliever that it was for herself. But she did know her friend liked to bake, and maybe it would help, a familiar activity and some conversation and possibly vegging in front of a movie later.
"So how are things?" She winced as she pulled out a roller for the pie crust and started rearranging things on the counter to make room. "Stupid question. I just meant. How are you?"
