Ariel had been happy to hear from Mia again. She always liked seeing the other woman, and the offer to not only share a booth (something she'd wanted, but she hadn't been sure she'd had enough to justify affording on her own) but also a request to help out with things to sell to fundraise for the shelter.

she had several quick and easy ideas to contribute for stuff they could easily make to sell at the festival. Given a little more time,s he'd probably be able to do more elaborate things, but she had a few things they could whip up in a short period of time.

She knocked cheerfully on Mia's door, a couple of bags full of things over her arm, and more in the truck if they needed it. It was fun to get to do this sort of thing every so often.

Taking a moment to fix her ponytail before hurrying to the door, she stopped in the entryway to toss a quick look over her shoulder into the dining room, making sure everything was out and in easy reach without being cluttered. Grandmother's sewing machine sat on the table, boxes of thread nearby, while two of the chairs had been pulled out, each seat holding a large Rubbermaid container full past the brim of neatly folded fabric. Leaving work a little early really had been the best decision, in retrospect -- the stash of material and all the related odds-and-ends had turned out to be bigger than she had anticipated or than Maggie had remembered, and it had taken the better part of forty minutes to go through everything, taking pictures of the pieces her sister couldn't remember so she could have a visual reminder. By the end, she had mentally added a webcam to her list of possible wishes for gifts, but after repacking all that Maggie wanted to keep, she had pared it down to two containers' worth that were definitely being kept, and ( ... )

"I am balanced, taking anything off me at this point will knock me right over," Ariel said with a laugh, though it wasn't quite true. She tossed her head to get her hair to flop back out of her eyes--silly wind--and walked inside. "I brought a bunch of stuff to run by you. I kept getting ideas, goodness! I haven't been on an idea tear in like, forever. I've got some random fabrics and scraps, stuff I can't really use unless I want to make a patchwork quilt or something, and I don't have all my quilting things back yet," she chattered back at Mia.

She smiled. "No, I haven't eaten, I just walked the dogs right quick and grabbed the stuff and ducked out to here," she said. She hadn't expected to be fed, but it was a bonus, definitely. She didn't feel as bad about it as she might once would have, especially since they were going to be working on stuff for Mia's shelter. "Need me to lend a hand right quick?" she said after she had set everything carefully down, brushing her hair back with a hand this time.

"Hey, no, ideas are good," she agreed, showing Ariel in, after closing and locking the door behind her. "My sister gave me a few of those to pass along, and I found some things on-line that I thought I could show you. Maybe you'll find something you might like to sell for yourself, or just do as a craft that you can give away as presents." Turning into the dining room, and scooping Holly off the table before she went sniffing into anything, she grinned over the little black ears at the other woman. "I brought a pad of paper and a pen out too, in case you wanted to sketch anything, or just take notes as you got ideas. This little beastie is Holly, and Jane is around somewhere, too. Possibly still napping. Nice life, huh ( ... )

"Totally open to ideas, so show away," Ariel said with a grin. She was always looking for new things to do and try. New gifts to give. She liked to make the majority of her gifts for people, since she most often couldn't afford anything substantial. "Hello, Holly," she greeted the animal, reaching out to gently scritch between the ears. She was pretty and fluffy and Ariel sighed softly. "Definitely nice," she agreed.

"I don't have much. I figured, like I said, a bunch of fabric totes, those are dead easy to make. Handkerchiefs for people and animals, etcetera, and all. "I have this stuff, and there's a bit of fleece in the truck, for tie blankets and maybe scarves, though I dunno how well something like that would sell down here. It's definitely not as cold as back home," she said dryly.

She went over to the rubbermaids and started to rifle through them, mmming and oohing softly to herself. Definitely promising.

Grinning a bit as well, she came over to idly play with the edge of a bit of daisy fabric sitting on top of the pile in the other container, and shrugged. "I figured since you know more about crafting than I do, you'd probably already have some sort of game-plan going. But I was curious if I could offer any sort of help, so I did some Googling to see what I could see. My sister has a bunch of fabric buttons she said I could let you have, and I wondered how hard it would be to make barrettes." She looked up with a faint, thoughtful expression. "Maybe use a hot-glue gun to fasten each button to a clip? You know the silver-colored ones that are thin and curved, like girls wear at their temples?" Pushing her hands into the hair above her ears in demonstration, she dropped them again with a slight wince, hoping she was being clear in what she was trying to say. "I can show you the pictures I found on-line. I don't know how well I'm explaining it ( ... )

"I have a few really easy to make things in mind. I figured, get a bunch of those sorts of thing done, and we'll have something in bulk to sell, and you can probably store it easily for the next time. But I'd love help." Ariel always liked new ideas. "Barrettes aren't that hard, if you already have the barrette part. You can also use fabric scraps to make bows, and even scrunchies if you have elastic." She grinned down at the ladybugs. "Oh, this is adorable. Would make a nice handbag."

Ariel smiled. "Still cold for me, but I get cold easy," she said, shrugging. "A couple of them might be okay though. And there should be some batting somewhere, I think. It's not that expensive."
