Brendon loved his job. He loved the people, he loved doing what he did and he didn't mind the hours. With his weekends becoming what they were, he was becoming less and less looking forward to the week starting again. Though his week usually started on Sunday, still -- he supposed that's what made the entire week worth it. To have a few days, days that he never allowed himself to appreciate before, away, to himself and more often than not, with Rico.
After he saw Alex at the date auction, Brendon knew what he needed to do. There was no longer an underlying, deep seated tension there that he felt when thinking about the other man and there was no longer a depressed or anxious feeling either. It was -- it was maybe acceptance? Acceptance of what he had done in the past and where they were now. Acceptance and...forgiveness what happened and to himself for doing what he did. Being fourteen, he hadn't known his own head from his arse and up until recent years, still hadn't.
Brendon still had the letter he had written to Alex all those years ago and now wanted to draft a new letter. A letter he could send in with it if only so Alex knew he didn't expect anything. He didn't. He hoped, with time, they could become...friends, perhaps, but he didn't expect anything concrete. There was too much history and too many feelings involved. Still - this at least would either open or close those doors for good.
Early Monday evenings -- oh yeah, that was exactly the right time to be alone with his thoughts. He shook his head from his thoughts when the door opened. People were starting to show up for Monday night football and that was definitely a good thing. Meant he had something else to focus on and think about instead.
