Erica was sitting out in the front, trying not to be bored. She'd only been here about an hour tonight, but things were slow and because there weren't any appointments on the books, Jase wasn't going to be staying much later. It didn't bother her, as it wasn't difficult to keep an eye on things and close up at the end of the night. But if they didn't get any walk ins, the night was likely to drag, though she thought maybe she'd see if J.J. would want her to swing by the shop after she was off. They wouldn't really have a lot of time because she had to be up early for class, but she kind of just wanted to see him again.
And she was both glad and disappointed when the door opened, pulling her out of her thoughts before they could really go into everything that had happened with J.J. last weekend. She smiled as the woman who looked to be pushing fifty held the door open for a younger woman -probably her daughter- to roll through the doorway in a wheelchair. She smiled at them, respectfully ignoring the two casts encasing the younger woman's legs, as she stood up and came around the counter. "Hello, welcome to the Affair. I'm Erica, is there anything I can help you with?" she asked in a friendly but unobtrusive way.
"Oh, would it be all right if we just looked around a little first?" the mother asked, and Erica was relieved that she wasn't snippy about it. She never really minded if people wanted to browse, but it was always frustrating when they'd get snippy at her for offering to help. She was just doing her job!
"Of course. If you have any questions or need anything, just let me know." She wasn't going to follow them around the store, though she did pay attention to where they were going and what they were doing. She'd noticed the ring on the young woman's hand, and so she wasn't surprised when they started browsing through the wedding gowns, talking quietly among themselves. Before long, though, they were making their way back to Erica.
"Okay, so we have a somewhat unusual request," the young woman said when they reached Erica before she had a chance to say anything to them first.
"Oh?" Erica prompted when the women looked at each other.
The young woman bit her lip and shared a look with who Erica assumed was her mother. Erica glanced over as Jase came up to the group before returning her attention to the women. "My fiance and I got engaged three weeks ago, and before I had a chance to start dress shopping, this happened." She motioned down to her obviously broken legs. "Now I won't be able to try dresses on for about three months, and that's if these heal back up without any problems. But I'd really love to get an idea of what would look good on me, and well, you're about my height and build and coloring, and I was wondering if you'd maybe try on a few of the style of dresses I'm looking at?"
Erica blinked, not able to quite contain her surprise at that request and not quite sure how to respond to it, either. "Oh! I..." she trailed off and glanced over at Jase, still a little stunned and not sure what to say.
