Astrid could hardly believe she was still awake after her last class, but it least it had been her last class for the week. Sure, there was homework and all that crap that she had to get to at some point, but right now she was dying to get out and do something. She'd immediately thought of Maureen and gotten excited. That was a woman who needed a night out, if she'd ever seen one. Not to mention, no one she'd met at school so far had been half as interesting, and having someone older around could be useful in a pinch ( ... )

When Marie heard a voice address her she looked up from her menu. "No problem," she said smiling at the short blond girl. She looked nice enough and Marie would hate to make her wait around when she had plenty of space. The girl looked to be around her own age, if not a little younger. Maybe she went to TCU. "I'm Marie, by the way."

Astrid glanced down at the chair to make sure there weren't any crumbs or anything sticky--everything looked pretty clean, but it was hit or miss with these places sometimes--and then took a seat across from the girl. "Astrid," she said automatically, reaching for one of the menus. "What's good here? It's my first time."

"Always best to check during the lunch rush," Marie said, smiling in amusement when she saw the blond check the seats. "Nice to meet you." She continued looking at the menu until Astrid asked her what was good. "This is only my second time here actually," Marie admitted. "I had the french toast with strawberry toppings last time and that was delicious. Not sure what is good for lunch though."
