Summary: Jake hosts a grill out.
Note: Among Jake’s invites, at least, are Sam (plus date or brother or whoever), Rico and Lucia, and Dess. Re also scored an invite by inviting him along yesterday night to the dance. Neve has invited Lupe and her son.

It dawned a lovely day for the cookout that Jake had been planning with Neve. He’d bought everything earlier in the week, hamburgers and hot dogs and even a couple of steaks and a bit of chicken. Might as well be prepared, and he could always put it in the fridge and use it for meals this week. He wasn’t sure how many people would end up coming, but he didn’t mind.
Star was happy to be doing something she remembered doing every year except for last year growing up. Jake had always done good grill outs every summer, inviting friends, family, guys from the station, etc. She was pleased by this bit of normality. His parents were happy, too, and his mother went into making the sides with his daughter with some gusto, though some people would bring things as well.
He started up the grill, feeling a little out of place at this height, but knowing he could at least do this.
