Harley had decided to stop by the bookstore before she lost her motivation and gave into the temptation to go home and brood. She'd spent her afternoon off so far getting herself enrolled in GED classes, and was for the most part not too happy about the experience. It'd been weird, going to the little orientation thing to sign up. It had been a requirement, her attending, but she'd have rather stayed home and called in to register or something. The people there had been nice enough and all, but most of the other prospective students were younger than her, and it just felt ...weird. But there was nothing for it--if she thought she could get away with taking the test with no classes, she would, but she didn't want to take the chance. Even if it meant three hours of school on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
She figured she'd need books too, for the different subjects. To take practice tests and junk. She could get Duck to quiz her, maybe; he wouldn't mind and she never felt like he was judging her or anything. She didn't really care if anyone wanted to judge her for not having much education, but still.
The bookstore was brightly lit and huge - it even had a coffee shop in it. Harley didn't come here often, usually just when she wanted to stock up on fiction and magazines. As usual, stuff caught her eye when she walked in, and she veered off toward the periodicals. The textbooks would still be there when she finished picking up a few car mags.
