Just call me Sherlock Holmes

The Metro Mystery is solved! He really is my classmate.

My high school's alumni association hosted a reception at the Cosmos Club this evening. I went mainly because I'll never have another opportunity to go inside as it's a private social club, and I'll certainly never qualify for membership! But I also went because my classmate had indicated in a class note that he'd be attending, and I wanted to know if he and the Metro Guy were one and the same. Sort of a kill two birds with one stone sort of thing, if you will.

The Cosmos Club is quite pretty inside. The room we were in wasn't particularly large, but it was sufficienly sized for our purpose, and decorated in a very ornate and lavish style. Very rococo. The food served was also delish. They had crab cakes that were simply to die for!

As far as meeting people, it went much better than the NYC reception I went to last year. There were several classmates there and though I never really talked to them in high school, we chatted happily tonight. And, of course, there was the Metro Guy. I was talking to someone when he approached me. I asked if we'd run into each other on the Metro before, and though he wouldn't confess to having talked to me, he did say, "I thought I saw you on the Metro but didn't know you were in the area until I saw tonight's list." *snicker* As it turns out, he lives really close to me so he and his girlfriend gave me a ride home tonight. My poor feet were grateful. I hate heels.
